Republic Day Celebration – Jan 2024

Mermier Bal Ashram, Koparkhairane celebrated Republic Day like all other years. We celebrated these ceremonies in a very eventful manner. All gathered in front of the house in reverence and respect to hoist the national flag. It was to remember the adoption of the Constitution of India, and the country’s transition to a republic which came into effect on 26 January 1950. On 29 August 1947, a seven-member drafting committee was appointed to draft a permanent constitution, with Dr.B R Ambedkar as chairman. A draft constitution prepared by the committee was submitted to the Constituent Assembly on 4 November 1948. After the draft was discussed and debated, the constituent assembly adopted the constitution on 26 November 1949. The major part of the constitution came into effect on 26 January 1950 with Dr. Rajendra Prasad becoming the first President of India and the constituent assembly became the Parliament of India under the transitional provisions of the new constitution. To mark this important day there were patriotic songs by the children. Then different group and individual games were conducted for the children and the winners were awarded with the prize. All the children and staff saluted the struggle of our forefather in making and giving us the Indian Constitution. At the end sweets were distributed to all. .

Christmas Celebrations – December 2023

Jan Vikas Society, Mermier Bal Ashram celebrated Christmas on 16th December 2023, at Mermier Bal Ashram, Koparkhairane. Children came from Vaduz Home, Panvel, Florin Home, Taloja and School on wheels from Koparkhairane railway station and Krishna Steel Factory locality. About 150 children were present for the Christmas gathering 2023. The Ashram was decorated beautifully with glitters and lights. A crib was made by the students. One could easily notice the excitement of Christmas in the students’ eyes. The cultural program began by 11:00 am till 1:00 pm. The carols, dances and skits were performed on the stage by the children to mark the auspicious day. During the cultural program, Santa Claus paraded through the hall cheering and singing songs of Christmas, handing out small gifts and handshakes that made the children very happy and exciting. After the cultural program festive lunch was being served for all. Soon after the lunch entertaining games were conducted. The winner of every item was awarded with a prize. At the end of the program, the director distributed take away gifts to all the children by wishing them “Merry Christmas and Happy New Year”

Independence day Celebration – August 2023

Independence Day was celebrated in our Jan Vikas Society on 15th August with great enthusiasm and patriotic fervour. The Mermier Bal Ashram campus was beautifully decorated with the presence of about eighty children from Mermier Bal Ashram, Vaduz Balika Ashram and the children from the School on Wheels to mark this day as independent India. All staffs and teachers working in Jan Vikas Society gathered in the Mermier Bal Ashram premises at 8:30 a.m. in the morning. The National Flag was hoisted by our benefactor Mr. K R Thiyagarajan. The breakfast was served for all the children and the staff. After that, beautiful cultural program was put up by the children. All of them participated in patriotic songs, dances, skit plays and speeches on the importance of the Independence Day. We could experience the joy and happiness of every children present on this auspicious day. The cultural program was over by 12:30pm in the afternoon by singing the National Anthem. Soon after the cultural program we served food for all the children. The children left the premises smiling and rejoicing with the gifts in their hands.
