Jan Vikas Society is a registered public trust since 1996 that works for the welfare of street children and rag-pickers in Mumbai and Navi Mumbai. It constantly tries to enlighten society and conscientize it on the growing phenomenon of street children and rag pickers and the problem faced by street children and rag pickers
It has rehabilitation centres for street children & rag pickers at Koperkhairane, Panvel and Taloja. It offers a supportive environment to these unfortunate one to cope with the situation that they are facing. Besides feeding, clothing and sheltering them., it imparts literacy and vocational training.
It also provides Medical Assistance to the poor and educational support to needy students

Jan Vikas Society asserts it commitment to the most Vulnerable sections of the children. It has adopted a policy to cater to the needs of street and rag picking children on the top most priority as they are at a very high risk of falling into sustance abuses and allied the linked evils
With the object of ensuring a rightful place for these exploited children, Jan Vikas Society go all-out with its process of reaching out and providing for the fulfillment of basic needs of such children. The Society effectively manages three rehabilitation centers and six day care centers in Mumbai and Navi Mumbai.
The primary benefeciaries of the services of the services offered by Jan Vikas Society are the street children who ran away from homes, from different parts and states of Indian Sub-Continent, due to their family, social crisis and mal adjustment. The orphan children who have no heed to their voices and fulfill their basic needs. Rag picking children who find their bread by searching for and selling garbage that people throw away by get their basic child rights fulfilled in their lives. There are also many slum children who live in inhuman conditions, which make them vulnerable to many evil realities, get an opportunity for his / her integral development.
